Cookie & Storage Policy

Last updated: July 5, 2026

This policy explains how the DentaBook application (the “Service”) uses cookies and similar on-device storage technologies. Because DentaBook is an installable, offline-first web app, it relies mainly on browser storage to keep you signed in and to let the app work without an internet connection, rather than on advertising or tracking cookies. This policy supplements our Privacy Policy.

1. What we use and why

We use only the storage that is necessary to run the Service and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

2. Categories of storage

  • Strictly necessary, authentication. Our authentication provider stores session and token information (in browser storage and/or cookies) to keep you securely signed in and to refresh your session. The Service will not work without these.
  • Functional, preferences. We store small preferences on your device, such as your chosen language, patient-portal language, and certain interface choices and “last used” clinical defaults, so the app behaves the way you expect.
  • Local database, offline support. To let the app work offline, we cache clinic data, a queue of changes you make while offline (the “outbox”), and images awaiting upload in your browser’s local database (IndexedDB). This data stays on your device and syncs with our servers when you reconnect.
  • Short-lived caches. We use short-lived session storage to speed up navigation within a browser tab (for example, caching your role and subscription status for a few minutes) so the app makes fewer repeat requests.
  • Service worker cache. As a Progressive Web App, the Service registers a service worker that caches app files and pages so it can load quickly and open even with little or no connectivity.

3. Managing storage

You can clear cookies and site data through your browser settings at any time. Please note that clearing this data will sign you out, remove your saved preferences, and delete the offline cache on that device, including any changes made offline that have not yet synced. For that reason, we recommend syncing (reconnecting to the internet so the app can upload queued changes) before clearing storage.

Blocking strictly necessary storage in your browser will prevent the Service from functioning correctly, as you will not be able to stay signed in.

4. Third parties

The storage described above is set by the Service and by the providers we use to operate it (such as our authentication and hosting providers). See our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement for details of those providers.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time and will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
